About
The West Dennis Yacht Club (WDYC) is a social community club offering fun for the whole family. Members enjoy the club’s friendly and casual environment, friendships, camaraderie and a robust entertainment calendar with social events for adults and families alike.
What goes on at the WDYC?

Dining, Activities and Entertainment
During the summer, the Club offers lunch Monday – Friday and Sunday night cookouts. Every Friday throughout the year, dinner is offered and the lounge is open. You can dine on the deck, in the lounge or in our ballroom, all with panoramic views of Nantucket Sound, Bass River and spectacular sunsets.
Our Bridge, Cribbage, Mahjong and Book Clubs meet year-round and yoga classes are offered during the summer. Our summer family movie nights are also very popular with our members.
Annually, more formal events including the Commodore’s Ball, Commissioning and De-Commissioning are held. The New Member Reception, typically held in June, provides a great opportunity to meet fellow members.
Year-round social events include themed dinners and parties, contests, craft classes and holiday functions, often with live music from local bands.

Sailing
The sailing program is a cornerstone of the WDYC and offers opportunities for adults and children.
Our pre-sailor program offers children ages 5 to 7 a well-rounded experience that emphasizes safety, fun, and a love of sailing. Sailors are taught by professional instructors and longtime sailing enthusiasts. Pre-Sail maintains a low ratio of sailors to instructors, which will enhance your child’s learning and development.
Youth sailing lessons are available by the week or for the whole season for children age 6 – 18. The WDYC is a member of the Southern Massachusetts Sailing Association (SMSA).
Adult sailing lessons are also offered.

Junior Yacht Club
The Junior Yacht Club is a social and volunteer organization for members’ children between the ages of 12 and 17. The JYC offers a variety of weekly activities. The JYC has its own Commodore and other officers and is under the supervision of the Rear Commodore.

Volunteerism
Volunteers are the lifeblood of our Club. Although volunteerism is not required it is encouraged and is a great way to meet other members. Volunteers help staff the Sunday cookouts and throughout the year organize and staff the many social functions at the Club. In addition, volunteers are often called upon to assist in setting up and breaking down the docks and helping to maintain the Club.
Do you have to be a resident of West Dennis to belong to the WDYC?
No. We have members who live in all parts of the Cape including the Towns of Dennis, Yarmouth, Harwich, and Brewster as well as Chatham, Hyannis, and East Sandwich. We also have many members who live off Cape and are part-time or summer residents.
Do you have to own a boat to belong to the WDYC?
No. About one third of our members own boats. Many of our members belong to the Club for the sailing programs we offer for children, grandchildren and adults, as well as for the many year-round social functions that we offer.
