The goal of the West Dennis Yacht Club Sailing Program is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children between the ages of five to eighteen.

The program is structured to encourage social interaction and development of friendships among the students. The focus of the program is on the fun, enjoyment, accomplishment, and development of self-esteem, skills that results from learning to sail while emphasizing good sportsmanship. The learned skills will provide the foundation for a lifelong love of sailing.
Additionally, the program covers the proper use and care of boats, sails, and equipment. Safety standards will be taught and strictly enforced to prevent accidents.
Sailors are taught by professional instructors who are longtime sailing enthusiasts. The sailing classes are offered in a progression sequence, building on techniques and skills from previous levels. All students are evaluated mid-season and at the end of the season to track their abilities. Class promotions will be by staff recommendation. Off season sailing activities will be considered on a case by case basis by the Program Director.
